The Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG is a vehicle that sets the standard for luxury, performance, and versatility in the full-size SUV market. With its muscular build, aggressive styling, and powerful 4.0-liter V8 engine, this SUV is designed to turn heads on the road. However, the GLS63 AMG offers more than just speed and power; it also boasts a luxurious interior, advanced safety features, and a range of driving modes to suit any driving style.
Design and Performance:
The Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG's design is striking, with its iconic front grille and muscular build. The SUV's long hood, large wheel arches, and low roofline give it a sexy and capable feel. Just by looking at this thing, you can tell it goes FAST. The GLS63 AMG is also equipped with LED headlights and taillights, which not only look sleek but also provide excellent visibility.
Under the hood, the GLS63 AMG is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces an impressive 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, ensuring that the car launches, and overtakes virtually anything on the road with ease. The GLS63 AMG can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, making it one of the most expensive temporary facelifts you’ll ever have.
Luxury and Features:
The interior of the GLS63 AMG is just as impressive as its exterior, with high-quality materials such as leather, wood, and aluminum. The seats are comfortable and supportive, which is good considering the number of times you’ll be thrown into the back of your chair anytime you touch the throttle. There’s plenty of “practical space” for people and cargo, however, if you’re buying an AMG, I doubt you’ll care. The GLS63 AMG also comes equipped with a variety of features that enhance the driving experience, including a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, a Burmester surround sound system. From my experience with the car, I can tell you that the only sound you’ll want to listen to is the roar from the huge V8 at the front.
The infotainment system is controlled via a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, which is easy to use and provides access to a range of features such as navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. The GLS63 AMG also has a wireless charging pad for compatible devices, as well as multiple USB ports and a 115-volt household-style power outlet.
Versatility and Safety:
The GLS63 AMG is an ironically versatile SUV that can handle any driving condition, thanks to its adaptive air suspension and various driving modes, including Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. The suspension can be adjusted to suit the driving conditions, and the driving modes adjust the steering, throttle response, and suspension settings to provide the ideal driving experience. The Irony comes in when you realise this is meant to be a family car. Does Mercedes seriously expect this 600hp monster to be reduced to the daily school run? I can save you the trouble of answering because I only had the GLS in sport+ literally the whole time and can report that this car is a genuine track racing thoroughbred through and through.
The GLS63 AMG also features advanced safety features such as Distronic (adaptive cruise control), lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, providing maximum protection for passengers in all driving conditions. Additionally, the SUV has a 360-degree camera system that provides a bird's-eye view of the vehicle, making it easy to navigate tight spaces, and avoid scuffing the huge 21 inch black alloys.
MANIC Verdict:
Overall, the Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG is a sports car in SUV’s clothing. Due to the traditionally practical aspects of the car, I’m obliged to say that this car would be great for a family who needs space, smart tech, and performance. However, I’m not obliged to say that this car is PERFECT for the driver who wants to turn heads and win drag races. Overall, the GLS63 AMG is a standout SUV in its class and an excellent choice for those who demand the very best in performance, luxury, and “fast car bragging rights”.
