PRADA SS 2024 MENSWEAR

In this show, architecture and the fluid forms within were the focal points of the entire collection. Each piece fronted an industrial feel with a larger upper body compared to the lower body through the clothing. The colour scheme was also extremely simple yet classy. Architecture is a topic that continues to change and yet always remains diverse. Think of a cathedral in Italy compared to a place in Central London. They are completely different in terms of detail, but their structure in terms of a strong foundation and building its way up stays the same. Fashion has done the same, which is why these two are in perfect harmony. Fashion has also changed. Certain pieces remain timeless, and others go out of date pretty quickly, but the idea of building up to a final piece remains the same, fabric and a needle. Prada was able to combine the world of fashion and the world of architecture into one, so let’s take a look at some of our favourite pieces.

Look 1

As you can see the oversized build of the coat is popular. The classic double buttons going down in symmetry makes the piece an immediate favourite. Keeping the base simple with dark denim jeans which also carry a baggy look toward the bottom with dress shoes and a collar popping out at the top of the trench coat is an easy and wearable look. I hope to see this outfit in use.

Look 2

This next look makes for another wearable look. The olive-green dress shoes contrasted with the black one piece with a wider/longer upper build reminds me of a spring in the south of France. Whether you’re roaming in a foreign country on holiday or on your way to work this fit has a range of purpose

Look 3

I cannot get over this all-grey jump suit. Once again, a common structure to the collection is a wider/longer upper build and a descend in size toward the bottom. The baggy look manages to stay present throughout. Simplicity is key and this look emphasizes this to the fullest. Grabbing a quick cup of coffee on your way to the Eiffel tower or on your way to a meeting in the Shard, this look is casual and comfortable allowing one to wear it over and over.

Look 4

This outfit is perfection. The pop of white and purple add a modernised touch onto both the collection and represent modernised architecture with it. This could also be seen as a unisex outfit. I can definitely see anyone rock this outfit on the infamous Portabello Road or the streets of “the big apple”.

Look 5

The dynamic of long and short make for an impeccable look. The light tones of yellow and cream flow through perfectly with the subtle black accent such as the dress shoes, socks, and bag. This look reminds us of the visual hard-working individual with style in Singapore’s Marina Bay .

Look 6

Never underestimate the oversized trench coat. I can imagine this coat with a summer dress or business pants and a fitted cropped long sleeve. My imagination brings me to a rainy day in London by St. Pauls Cathedral with a matcha latte in one hand and a book on Jane Eyre in the other. Once again another timeless piece yet remaining modernised with the pop of green.

Look 7

The pockets embedded on both sides of the vest represent an industrial feel to the outfit as well as the baggy jeans. I can picture this outfit on the Duomo in Milano or the Louvre in Paris. Another wearable piece worth your time.

Prada has once again shown their ability to mix casual with luxury. This collection can be visually seen on an everyday human being which is what makes this collection so intriguing. Mixing modern ideals with the past is important as ever when making collections for the world to see and wear. It is difficult to find a collection that represents what luxury stands for as well as incorporating the flow of an individual realistically. This is just what they have done and I could not be more inspired by the idea behind architecture combined with fashion.
